All-About-Animals day camp at Damariscotta River Association
The Damariscotta River Association (DRA) has announced that registration is now open for its April Vacation Nature Day Camp. This camp will give children opportunities to explore, learn and enjoy the outdoors with the guidance of a naturalist and it will focus on wildlife.
During February’s winter vacation, 10 children took part in a similar camp focused on wildlife in winter. Kirsten Campbell, parent of two girls, recently enthused that her daughters “absolutely loved your program...it was fantastic!” Other parents have noted that they appreciate the hands-on science and the supportive environment.
The April “All-About-Animals” session is scheduled for April 20 through 24 from 9:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. each day. The kids will hike to look for animal tracks and signs with a naturalist, use microscopes, go marsh mucking in search of aquatic invertebrates, create art projects, play nature-inspired games and much more. Pre-registration is required by April 10. The fee is $220 or $195 for DRA members, with scholarships available.
The April camp is open to children ages five to ten. Participants should bring two snacks and a lunch each day and come prepared to be outside for most of the day. Contact the DRA to register. A health form will be required for all participants. Gift certificates for this camp and DRA summer nature Camp Mummichog are available from the DRA.
