Boating safely course at Adult Ed
This eight hour course taught by U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary instructors is an introduction to boating. The course is at Boothbay Region High School Tuesdays and Thursdays, April 28, 30, May 5, and 7 from 6 to 8 p.m. (Please note: the time listed in the spring brochure is incorrect.)
The topics covered include types of boats, trailering, required safety equipment, legal requirements, navigating waterways, safe operation, boating emergencies and water sports. The instructors will also discuss buoys, navigation aids and personal watercraft equipment. This course is approved by the National Association of State Boating Law Administrators. Successful completion of an optional exam at the end of the class leads to a certificate to show you have taken a safe boating course. The certificate is required to operate a boat in most states and Canada. Many insurance companies offer discounts on insurance if you have a certificate. Please register in advance.
