River Arts’ ‘Abstract’ exhibition opens Friday
River Arts in Damariscotta will hold an opening reception for its new exhibition, “Abstract,” Friday, May 29, from 5-7.
The show features 88 works by Maine artists in a wide variety of media, including sculpture and fine crafts. The exhibition will hang until June 25.
Local artists with works in the show are: James A. Kipfer and Elizabeth Pardoe Caton of Alna, Judy Nixon of Bristol, Glenda Drum, Jack Gilmore and Irene Plummer of Damariscotta, Pamela Riml of East Boothbay, John Lorence of Edgecomb, Joan Atkinson of New Harbor, Anna Shaw and Carolyn Wiley of Newcastle, Peter Felsenthal of Trevett and Brandon Lutterman of Wiscasset.
Dozier Bell was the juror for this exhibition. Since her first solo show in 1987, native Mainer Bell has appeared in 30 solo and two-person exhibits in New York City and across the country. A selection of her drawings from the Bates Museum is included in the current show at the Portland Museum of Art, “Director’s Cut: Selections from the Maine Art Museum Trail.” For more information, visit www.dozierbell.com.
In addition, the River Arts West Gallery will be featuring the artwork of River Arts instructors: Deb Arter, Kris Engman, Hannah Ineson, Sandi Cirillo, Joyce Steel, Erica Qualey, Roberta Goschke, and Nate Willever.
River Arts is located at 241 US Route 1 in Damariscotta. Gallery hours are Tuesday to Saturday 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. and Sunday 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
