River Arts opens two new shows July 3
River Arts in Damariscotta, is inviting the public to the opening reception for its Annual Member Show, Friday, July 3 from 5 to 7 pm. The artwork submitted by members reflects the “artist’s choice,” free from the constraints of a themed show.
The 106 works by 106 artists represent a wide variety of media and styles, including sculptures. The exhibition runs through July 30.
This year’s annual member celebration will also include a table with published books authored and/or illustrated by River Arts members. The 2015 River Arts program book, full of classes offered and the full exhibition schedule, will also be available.
In addition, visitors can view Ann O'Hara's solo exhibition, “Moments to Remember,” in the River Arts West Gallery. O’Hara, from South Thomaston, was educated both as an artist and as an attorney. She has worked with various visual media through the years, but in 2009 soft pastels became her primary focus.
O'Hara uses her pastels to memorialize her journey as she interprets people, places and objects that, once observed, had to be preserved and presented in her own style. Seascapes, landscapes, portraiture, floral, animals, any living thing can be the subject of one of her pastels.
River Arts is located at 241 US Route 1 in Damariscotta and is open Tuesday through Saturday, 10 to 4, and on Sunday from 10-2. Closed Monday.
