Frank Bruckmann exhibition on Monhegan
The Island Inn on Monhegan is featuring “Local Color,” an exhibit of oil paintings by Frank Bruckmann, daily now through Oct. 11.
A resident of New Haven, Connecticut, Bruckmann attended the DuCret School of Art, the Art Students League, and the Ecole des Beaux Arts, followed by nearly a decade of painting in France and Spain.
Since his first trip to Monhegan in 1995, he has visited annually for several weeks of painting and teaching on the island, including a winter in residence with his family in 2010.
On exhibit are over 40 of Bruckmann’s oils, with subjects ranging from the landscape to Monhegan village scenes. His easy familiarity with island life is conveyed in his portrayal of a fish house cribbage game, and another of a group of artists gathered in candlelight at dinner.
The Island Inn is adjacent to the Monhegan wharf, and ferry service is available from Port Clyde, New Harbor and Boothbay Harbor.
