Colin Woodard speaks at Lincoln Theater Aug. 13
Colin Woodard, author of "The Lobster Coast: Rebels, Rusticators & the Struggle for a Forgotten Frontier," will speak at the Lincoln Theater in Damariscotta Thursday, Aug. 13 at 7 p.m. His talk and book signing will be followed by a reception at Skidompha Library. This event is free and open to all.
Woodard’s appearance will conclude the library’s inaugural “Community Read” which attracted more than 450 participants.
The author, born and raised in Maine, is a writer, a historian and an award-winning journalist who has reported from more than 50 foreign countries. In addition to "The Lobster Coast," he has also written "Ocean’s End," "American Nations" and "The Republic of Pirates."
His work has appeared in dozens of publications including Smithsonian, The Economist, and Washington Monthly. Woodard currently serves as State and National Affairs Writer for the Portland Press Herald/Maine Sunday Telegram. In 2012 he received a George Polk Award for his investigative reporting and last year was named one of the “Best State Capitol Reporters in America” by the Washington Post, and Journalist of the Year by the Maine Press Association.
