First-ever Plein Air Art Exhibit on display
Another miracle arrived at the Boothbay Region Art Foundation Gallery Friday, Nov. 9, with Maine's first ever Plein Air Art Exhibit.
The new venue provides space for fresh, new inspiring art from Maine's plein air artists. Plein air paintings are created by artists painting outdoors in a location of their choosing. Forty-two painters are exhibiting 118 paintings. It will run until November17 at the gallery at 1 Townsend Ave., in Boothbay Harbor.
One of the onlookers said, “I think it is the best I have seen in Maine outside of museums.” Another viewer said, “It is dynamite! Individually and collectively, it's an artistic feast.”
“I offer my heartfelt thanks to all who made this first plein air show possible,” Kibbe said. “The artists, the workers, the gallery sitters, those who donated food, and all who helped: thank you for this successful show.”
