Lady in Red Cloak at Harbor Fest
The mysterious Lady in the Red Cloak, often seen leading lantern-lit haunted history tours in Boothbay Harbor, will be adding a bit of the supernatural to the 2015 Harbor Fest celebration. The Lady will make appearances at three walking tours, a storytelling at a student benefit event, and a trip around town as part of the “Harbor Crawl.”
Sally Lobkowicz, the Director of Red Cloak Haunted History Tours, will host all of the Red Cloak Harbor Fest Tours. Lobkowicz, the original Lady in the Red Cloak, opened the Boothbay Harbor tour in 2009. She now has tours in eight coastal Maine villages from Bar Harbor to Bath.
On Friday, Sept. 4 the Lady in the Red Cloak will join other Harbor Fest participants in kicking off the Harbor Fest with a Harbor Crawl aboard the Rocktide Inn's trolley. After the Harbor Crawl there will be a Red Cloak Haunted History tour beginning at 7:30 p.m.
Monday, Sept. 7 will find the Lady in the Red Cloak making two storytelling appearances at the Whale Park at the Boothbay Harbor Public Landing at 1 and 3 p.m. as part of a fundraising effort during the Splash into Science Students’ Carnival. The carnival will be raising money to support a May 2016 field trip for 13 students from the Boothbay Region Elementary School to study first-hand the Florida Everglades ecosystem. The Lady in the Red Cloak's participation in the fundraiser is sponsored by Lincoln County Magazine.
The Lady in the Red Cloak will host story-telling sessions at 1:30 p.m. and 2:30 p.m. during the carnival, relating tales that have been specially modified for younger viewers. There is no charge for these story-telling sessions, and no reservations are required.
Special Red Cloak Haunted History Tours, with an emphasis on nautical history in the Boothbay region — but still laced with tales of mystery — will be available Sunday, Sept. 6 at 5 p.m.; and at 7 p.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 8 and Thursday, Sept. 10. All tours are by reservation only.
