Kathryn Young of Lincoln County Dental will speak to diabetes support group
Kathryn Young, LD, of Lincoln County Dental Inc., will discuss dental health and how it relates to diabetes at the next LincolnHealth Diabetes Support Group Meeting.
The LincolnHealth Diabetes Support Group will meet at 1 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 23 in the third floor of the Miles Campus of LincolnHealth.
Young, a South Bristol native, is a licensed denturist and board member of Lincoln County Dental, a nonprofit dental clinic that provides access to dental care for people whose income is at 200 percent of the federal poverty line or less.
She will offer a slide presentation on the ways dental care, dental disease and diabetes influence a person’s health and quality of life. Lincoln County Dental is staffed by dedicated volunteer dentists, a denturist and a dental hygienist.
It provides basic services to control pain and infection along with recommendations for a step-by-step program to obtain optimal dental health. Patients must qualify before their initial examination. Please join our group to learn more about the connections between diabetes and dental care. All are welcome.
The LincolnHealth Diabetes Support Group meets 1:00-2:15 p.m. every other month, usually on the fourth Wednesday of the month, to share experiences and send the message that no one should have to deal with diabetes alone. Meetings are held on the Miles Campus on the third floor of LincolnHealth Hospital in Damariscotta.
The Diabetes Education Program provides a range of services to diabetes patients and their families and has achieved American Association of Diabetes Educators recognition for the provision of quality services. Originally recognized in September of 2001, the program was recertified in February 2013.
