Next week at Boothbay Region Adult Ed, discover the benefits of therapeutic massage, learn the basics of using Microsoft Excel, and get information about the early warning signs of Alzheimer's.
On Monday, Feb. 29, learn how Therapeutic Massage can reduce stress and pain. Medical studies have indicated massage therapy is safe, effective, and increases feelings of well-being. Patti Corscaden, LMT, will discuss the role of massage therapy in health maintenance. The time is 6-8 p.m. and the fee is $14.
Basic Excel is a hands-on introduction to Microsoft Excel 2010, a powerful, industry-leading spreadsheet application. Learn the basics of worksheets, how to use tools and functions, set-up a worksheet, move around in it, create formulas, import and export information, print it, and more. Prerequisite: basic computer and keyboarding skills. This three session class meets on March 1, 2 and 3 from 6 to 8 p.m. The fee is $38.
Know the Ten Signs on March 1 from 6:30 to 8 p.m. is for anyone who is interested in learning more about the early detection of Alzheimer’s disease and the difference between age-related memory loss. Mark Pechenik from the Maine Alzheimer's Association will discuss why early detection is important, how to recognize the signs, and how Alzhemier's is diagnosed. The cost is $10.
Estate Planning & Elder Law provides an overview of estate planning and what you should consider when developing your estate plan. Attorney Melissa Whitt will also address legal issues commonly faced by the elderly such the role of your personal representative, nursing home care, asset titling, powers of attorney, and estate taxes. The date is Tuesday, March 2 from 5 to 6:30 p.m. and the fee is $10.
Do you have an Android tablet or a smart phone and want to be more knowledgeable and proficient using it? Tablets and Smart Phones is a two session class will take you through the basic settings of the device, such as email and how to customize your tablet and keep it up to date. Bring your Android tablet or smart phone to class. The class meets on March 7 and 9 from 6 to 8 p.m. and the fee is $28.
