Boating, computer and more at Adult Ed
During the last two weeks of March at Boothbay Region Adult Ed you can take a class about working with photos on your Windows computer, iPad, or iPhone, learn practical money management skills, how to keep your computer trouble free and running smoothly, and more.

Whether it’s paying down our debt, funding our retirement, or taking that once-in-a-lifetime vacation, it’s increasingly difficult to find the extra money to put aside for important needs Join Libby Farmer for How Money Works on Thursday, March 24 to learn how to better manage your money. You’ll receive a complimentary copy of “How Money Works,” a book that helps consumers find solutions to their financial problems. The time is 6-8 p.m. and the cost is $9.
You’ve been taking photos with your digital camera ... now what? Working with Digital Photos on Your Computer will show you how to download your photos, resize, organize, and save them. You'll also learn to email them to family and friends, and print them out. Bring your digital camera and the cable that connects it to the computer. This class meets on Thursday, March 24, and Tuesday, March 29 from 6 to 8 p.m. The fee is $28.
You are out and about, and see a "Kodak Moment" in the making, but you really don’t know how to use your iPad or iPhone camera to truly capture the moment. Join Lisa for Photos on your iPad or iPhone to learn the essentials of getting photos from your camera to your device, organize, and email them, and minor photo editing. She will also show you how to transfer photos to and from your computer. Bring your charged iPad or iPhone to class. This two session class meets on Mondays, Maarch 28 and April 4 from 6 to 8 p.m., and the fee is $28.
If you are comfortable with using the settings and functions on your digital camera, or have taken Leisha’s basic class, and want to learn more about improving the quality of your photos ...Taking Great Digital Photos on March 29 and 31 is the class for you! You'll explore contrast, lighting, and shapes through discussion. Then experiment using what you've learned to take photos indoors, outdoors, or tell a photo story. Learn to see differently - work more creatively. Leisha will provide feedback and technical tips. Bring your digital camera with fresh batteries to class. The time is 6 to 8 p.m. and the cost is $28.
In Computer Maintenance and Troubleshooting learn simple do-it-yourself techniques to fix common Windows operating system (7 and 8) problems. Begin by gaining a better understanding of your PC's components. Learn why your computer is running slow and how to speed it up, about viruses, and how to avoid them. Troubleshoot conflicts, perform back-ups, updates, disk clean-ups, system restore, and other types of preventative maintenance. This three session class is on March 29, 30, and April 4 from 6 to 8 p.m. the fee is $38.
About Boating Safely taught by the U.S. Coast Guard Auxilary is an introduction to boating. Topics include types of boats, trailering, required safety equipment, legal requirements, navigating waterways, safe operation, boating emergencies, and water sports. The course is approved by the National Association of State Boating Law Administrators. Successful completion of an optional exam at the end of the class leads to a certificate that is required to operate a boat in most states and Canada. Many insurance companies offer discounts on insurance if you have a certificate. This is a four session course on March 29, 31, April 5, and 7 from 6 to 8 p.m. and the fee is $70.
