Damariscotta Region Chamber of Commerce announces spring education series
The Damariscotta Region Chamber of Commerce is pleased to announce a new education series of four programs this spring. These programs will meet in the Oysterhead Lounge, above Newcastle Publick House, 52 Main Street, Newcastle, from 8 to 9:30 a.m. for the next four Wednesdays.
The first program, “Workplace Wellness,” will take place on Wed., March 23, presented by Kelly Holbrook, wellness/rehab director at LincolnHealth. A graduate of the University of New England with a B.S. in occupational therapy, her passion is in the area of work place safety. In this program she will be reviewing basic office ergonomics and stretch break exercises to prevent work associated injuries. She will also present some of the benefits to employers who implement wellness programs.
On Wed., March 30, Christine Henson, marketing and communications officer at LincolnHealth, will present “The Conversation of Social Media II: Tools and Tips.” She will discuss how social media can both supercharge and re-define traditional approaches in advertising, public relations, customer service and quality management when combined with “good old fashioned” practices like quick response, transparent promotion, and customer endorsement. The concept of storytelling to define brand will be paramount to the discussion.
Matt Rice and Tamara Lilly of Burgess Computers will present the third program in the series, “Safe Computer Best Practices and Top Tech Tips for Non-Techies,” on Wed., April 6. This program will help you answer vital questions for your business: Do you practice safe computing habits at work? What about your employees? How do you know if your network is secure and protected? You know those tech issues that crop up as irritations – but do you work around them instead of fixing them? Do you hesitate to call tech support because they “speak geek” and make you more confused? Get information on best practices and advice on how to keep your business network safe.
Justin Laverriere, AVP business relations officer at The First, NA, will present the final program in the series, “Commercial Lending Made Easy,” on Wed., April 13. In this informative presentation he will address some of the misconceptions that businesses have in regards to commercial lending. Additionally, the presentation will also discuss the basics of commercial lending in terms of what to expect when beginning the borrowing process.
The Chamber is able to offer this incredible line-up of educational programming for regional businesses through the generous support of Newcastle Publick House, our 2016 education program sponsor.
“The Chamber is pleased to present such a strong series of educational programming for the businesses in the Damariscotta Region,” stated Marva Nesbit, Chamber president. “Programs covering such a wide variety of topics provide owners, managers and staff opportunities to develop their skills which enhances the entire business community. “
