‘Going to miss it someday’: Graduation nears
Lining up in cap and gown at marching practice inside Stover Auditorium on Tuesday morning, Wiscasset Middle High School Class of 2016 President Remy Segovia smiled when asked what he was feeling as he neared the end of high school.
He paused, then answered, still smiling, “Excited, but I know I’m going to miss it someday.”
The seniors, in red for girls, black for boys, raised their hands for any honors that applied to them such as top scholar and National Honor Society, so school staff could hand them additional items to wear around the neck Thursday night.
After the ceremony, graduates will head first to Woolwich’s Montsweag Roadhouse where the upstairs has been reserved, science teacher Prema Long, an advisor on the Project Graduation trip, said. They’ll have a nice meal, then continue on to Portland for a Casco Bay Lines charter cruise on the Bay Mist, Long said in a phone interview May 26.
On May 27, the class had a fun day at Old Orchard Beach, Long writes in a followup email exchange Monday.
Last week, she described the approach of graduation as bittersweet for her. She is proud of what the class’ members have accomplished and happy for them as they move on, but she will miss them, she said.
