Closed-door sessions planned for school panel
A pair of executive, or closed-door, sessions are on tap along with other business for the Wiscasset School Committee on Wednesday, June 15.
The committee will meet at 7 p.m. in the Wiscasset Middle High School library, where Facilities and Transportation Director John Merry, Nutrition Director Lorie Johnson and Special Education Director Jessica Yates will give updates; also in open session, the committee will take up teacher Lori Burgess’ transfer from kindergarten to a multi-age classroom for grades one and two; and principals Peg Armstrong, from WMHS, and Mona Schlein, from Wiscasset Elementary School, will give their good news and recognition announcements including WES’ students of the month, according to an agenda released June 8.
The panel will also consider its yearly measure to hand off responsibility to Superintendent of Schools Heather Wilmot for recruiting and hiring teachers over the summer.
One of the two executive sessions at the end of the meeting involves an administrative contract; the other, a personnel issue, the agenda states. In an email June 9, Wilmot states that she cannot presently share any information on the two executive sessions.
Chairman Steve Smith expects the June 15 meeting to be his final one on the committee. He did not seek re-election; his term runs out at the end of June, Smith said June 9.
