Boothbay Harbor business dispute settled
The civil suit over majority ownership of the parent company for McSeagull’s restaurant in Boothbay Harbor has been settled out of court, a lawyer for one of the parties confirmed June 29.
Portland attorney Adrianne Fouts, co-counsel for Boothbay’s Ralph Smith, said the settlement agreement was reached at the end of May, resolving the claims and counterclaims to all the parties’ satisfaction.
Smith filed suit in Lincoln County Superior Court in January 2015, seeking 51 percent ownership of the restaurant’s parent company, Gone Skiing. The defendants, Gone Skiing and shareholders Ronald Stoddard and Gail Ogilvie, opposed the request and filed a series of counterclaims. The case moved to the state Business and Consumer Court in mid-2015.
The parties will inform the court there has been a settlement, Fouts said.
The agreement is confidential; Smith is no longer a shareholder, the attorney said.
