Salt Bay Chamberfest offers a master class at Schooner Cove Aug. 19
Enjoy a uniquely educational music program at Schooner Cove as members of the internationally acclaimed Brentano String Quartet offer a master class to talented young Maine musicians.
The master class has been offered at Schooner Cove by Salt Bay Chamberfest musicians for more than a decade. Audience members get a unique chance to enjoy a mini-concert from the young musicians and then watch as they gain a new level of understanding of what it means to play and perform at the highest level.
The class is offered to some of Maine’s most talented young artists. It will take place at 3 p.m. on Aug. 19.
Katie Williams, Production Manager for the Salt Bay Chamberfest, said the master class is a great way for aspiring musicians to gain inspiration and encouragement.
“The students will have a rare opportunity to perform for world class artists, and receive personalized feedback to help them improve their technique and musicality,” said Williams.
Cellist Nina Marie Lee and violinist Serena Canin will teach the class. Lee received her Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in music from the Juilliard School and currently teaches at Princeton University and Columbia University.
Violinist Serena Canin has degrees from Swathmore College and the Juilliard School and holds teaching positions at Princeton University and New York University.
The Brentano String Quartet was formed in 1992 and has appeared in venues all over the world, including in Carnegie Hall and Alice Tully Hall in New York City; the Library of Congress in Washington D.C.; the Concertgebouw in Amsterdam; the Konzerthaus in Vienna; Suntory Hall in Tokyo and the Sydney Opera House in Australia.
