One firefighter has been transported to a local hospital with heat exhaustion, as crews battle a brush fire off Willow Lane Monday afternoon, Wiscasset Fire Chief T.J. Merry said.

Several towns’ fire departments have responded; as of about 1:40 p.m., efforts were continuing to try to contain the fire, which so far had burned about an acre, Merry said.

Alna Fire Chief Mike Trask said about 10 members of that department remained on the scene.

Among other towns responding was Boothbay. No further information was immediately available.
