A new spa opened in Edgecomb in June, and it's going strong. A New Leaf Salon & Spa, a full-service spa, offers pretty much everything a woman, or man, needs to feel well-groomed and have a healthful glow.

The spa is owned by Chara and Jill Gannett, who have a second one in Hollis. The space is leased from Tony Casella, who owns the Sheepscot Harbour Village Resort. The spa offers everything from hair services for both women and men to manicures and pedicures, facial treatments, massage and Reiki, full body waxing and on-location bridal services.

Aesthetician Amber Hathorne and hair stylist Jameson Cribby can usually be found there.

With a new on-site “Sweetheart/Bridal Cottage,” one of the many amenities offered by Casella, brides and their bridal parties can take advantage of the spa for all their wedding needs — either at the spa or in the privacy and comfort of the cottage, next door.

Massage therapies at the spa include Swedish massage, a deep-tissue massage, hot stone massage, a “mother's massage” for pregnant women, and a couples massage.

Body treatments include a mud wrap that includes a warm foot soak and a mini facial; a salt scrub; a cellulite treatment and body waxing — from eyebrows to bikini line.

Facial treatments include a deep-cleansing, exfoliation and purifying mask treatment; a “calm facial” for sensitive skin to restore balance and reduce redness; a “blemish facial,” for anyone struggling with acne; and an age-defying facial for mature skin. A chemical peel is also offered.

Hair services include shampoo, cut and style for men, women and children; color and perms; and conditioning shine treatment.

Nail services include manicure, pedicure, shellac and paraffin wax.

Bridal services include airbrush makeup and hair, either at the spa or in the “Sweetheart Cottage.”

The Bridal/Sweetheart Cottage is a place for bridal parties and/or sweethearts who are looking for a little alone time. For the sweethearts, there's room for their kids, or friends, too.

“For bridal parties the brides and their bridesmaids can stay there the night before, and the bride and groom can spend their wedding night there,” Casella said.

There are three bedrooms, the master one containing a king size bed and large closet and bureau, a TV, a large bathroom with dual sinks, a four-person makeup station, and a shower featuring dual shower heads. There's also a room with an eight-person Jacuzzi and a bar.

The cottage has a large kitchen and living room and extra bathroom, and the two other bedrooms each have bathrooms and TVs.

It's not only a destination for weddings during the summer — it's a place for a quiet weekend or longer during the cold winter months. Casella said he's getting a lot of people booking it for January and February.
