“Miss Peregrine's Home For Peculiar Children” Tim Burton presents this fantasy film based on Ransom Riggs best-selling novel about a boy who follows clues from his grandfather's old photographs which lead to a supposedly abandoned orphanage on a Welsh island — a magical place known as Miss Peregrine's School for Peculiar Children. The mystery and danger deepen as he meets the residents and learns about their special powers — and their terrifying enemies. Ultimately, Jake discovers that only his own special peculiarity can save his new friends.

“The story combines wickedly wry humor with enchanting steampunk spookiness,” says the Tribune News Service.

“Miss Peregrine's Home For Peculiar Children” is rated PG13. Plays Wednesday, Oct. 19 and Thursday, Oct. 20 at 7 p.m.

Academy Award winning director Oliver Stone (“Platoon,” “Wall Street” and “JFK”) tackles an important and fascinating true story. “Snowden,” is a politically-charged, pulse-pounding thriller starring Joseph Gordon-Levitt and Shailene Woodley.

The screenplay reveals the incredible untold personal story of Edward Snowden, the polarizing figure who exposed shocking illegal surveillance activities by the NSA and became one of the most wanted men in the world. He is considered a hero by some, and a traitor by others. No matter which you believe, the epic story of why he did it, who he left behind, and how he pulled it off makes for one of the most compelling films of the year.

“Snowden” is rated R for language and some sexuality/nudity. The film plays Friday, Oct. 21, Saturday, Oct. 22, Wednesday, Oct. 26 and Thursday, Oct. 27 at 7 p.m. and at 2 and 7 p.m. on Sunday, Oct. 23.

“The Beatles: Eight Days a Week – The Touring Years” (NR; 2 hours, 17 minutes). Ron Howard's film explores how John Lennon, Paul McCartney, George Harrison and Ringo Starr came together to become this phenomenon, "The Beatles" based on the first part of The Beatles' career (1962-1966) - the period in which they toured and captured the world's acclaim. It delves into their inner workings - how they made decisions, created music and built their collective career together - all the while, highlighting The Beatles' extraordinary musical gifts and their remarkable, complementary personalities.

The film focuses on the time period from the early Beatles' journey in the days of The Cavern Club in Liverpool to their last concert in San Francisco in 1966. Final screenings Wednesday, Oct. 19 and Thursday, Oct. 20 at 2 and 7 p.m.

However, even as Sully was being heralded by the public and the media for his unprecedented feat of aviation skill, an investigation was unfolding that threatened to destroy his reputation and his career.

Tom Hanks stars in this thrilling portrait of an heroic airline pilot. Directed by Clint Eastwood, this film is rated PG-13. It plays at 2 and 7 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 21, Sunday, Oct 23 and Wednesday, Oct. 26; plays at 7 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 22.

The Met Live in HD: Mozart’s “Don Giovanni” (3 hours, 22 minutes) Simon Keenlyside makes his Met role debut as the unrepentant seducer in Tony Award-winner Michael Grandage’s staging of Mozart’s masterpiece. Playing Saturday, Oct. 22 at 1 p.m. Pre-opera talk, “Mozart’s Masterpiece!” at 11:45 a.m.

NT Live Encore: “Frankenstein” (2 hours, no intermission) This thrilling production features Benedict Cumberbatch (BBC’s Sherlock, The Imitation Game) and Jonny Lee Miller (CBS’s Elementary, Trainspotting), returns in an encore broadcast just in time for Halloween. Childlike in his innocence but grotesque in form, Frankenstein’s bewildered Creature is cast out into a hostile universe by his horror-struck maker. Meeting with cruelty wherever he goes, the friendless Creature, increasingly desperate and vengeful, determines to track down his creator and strike a terrifying deal.
