Sheriff Todd Brackett reports the following:

On January 5, Deputy Kevin Dennison took a report of a theft of gasoline from a motor vehicle in the Boothbay area. The complainant stated that while she was away from her house, someone(s) had stolen the gasoline from her vehicle, which was parked in her driveway, and which had been filled prior to her leaving her residence. Further investigation if leads develop.

On January 6, Deputy Matthew Day took a report of criminal mischief to a mailbox in the Westport Island area. The complainant stated that he looked outside and saw a maroon-colored vehicle turn around in his driveway and strike his mailbox, knocking it over and breaking the post holding it up. Deputy Day was unable to make contact with any maroon-colored vehicle.

Recent arrest

On January 4, Cody A. Brown, 24, of Boothbay was arrested for Cultivating Marijuana, on Wiscasset Road, Boothbay, by Det. Ronald Rollins.

Recent accidents

On January 4, an accident occurred on Blinn Hill Road in Dresden involving Marjory Whitehurst, 80, of Alna. Whitehurst while operating her 2000 Dodge entered an area on the roadway which had significant drifting snow. As a result, she lost control of her vehicle, went off the roadway, struck a mailbox and continued into the ditch. Deputy Kevin Dennison was the investigating officer.

On January 4, an accident occurred on Pond Road in Newcastle involving Gary M. Woestman, 39, of Brunswick. Woestman was operating his 2006 Ford Freestar southbound when he lost control of his vehicle on a corner and went off the left side of the roadway, striking some small trees. Deputy Kenneth Hatch was the investigating officer.
