John W. Dunn
John Wilfred Dunn, 78, of Port Orange, Florida died Feb. 14, 2017 at the Port Orange Nursing Home after a long illness.
He was born on Nov. 8, 1938 in South Weymouth, Massachusetts. John moved to Hebron, Maine with his family in 1965 where they owned and operated a dairy farm. John was into boxing for a short time before he joined the Maine State Police in 1969. In his last year with the Maine State Police, he was a detective and left the force as a sergeant. During this time he was also on the sniper and bomb squad. In 1984, he and his family moved to Ocala, Florida.
John is survived by his wife, Rebecca Hodgdon Dunn and children, Terri Reynolds, Eric Barter and daughters, Samantha Brown and Kimberly Perez; and many grandchildren.
John's parents, Fred and Helen Dunn, and brother, Everett Dunn, predeceased John. Everett's children, Jamie and Tanya live in Hebron with their families.
John will be greatly missed by his family and friends.
The family will be having a graveside memorial service at Ocean View Cemetery on Country Club Road in Boothbay, Maine on Saturday, June 17 at 1 p.m. All family and friends are welcome to attend.
