New tarot inspired artist at Stable Gallery
Sacred geometry, nature scenes, Tarot images, and modern dance inform the unique art works of Katenia Keller, one of this month’s featured artists at the Stable Gallery in Damariscotta.
“I weave threads from my life experience with natural patterns, rhythms and cycles, ancient rituals and modern scientific theories while maintaining a wide open sense of humor,” said Keller.
A teacher, counselor, dancer and choreographer Keller hopes her artwork helps others “expand consciousness, bring a new perspective and create balance as a step toward a more compassionate and abundant future.”
Keller’s art works are dramatic geometric forms and striking natural scenes reduced to their essentials. From a large butterfly to moons, Keller’s paintings draw you in for contemplation. Keller paints with acrylic on masonite to ensure a smooth finish allowing the colors to glow.
The Stable Gallery also displays Keller’s tarot card decks. Through these cards, Keller explores the “whole and its parts.” Each card is an arresting, archetypal image to be pondered to increase self-awareness and creativity.
Open daily 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., the Stable Gallery is at 26 Water Street, Damariscotta. Works by 35 talented Maine artists from a wide array of artistic disciplines are on view for sale. Each month, the seven member artists create a new display with different artists featured and all participating artists represented.
The current exhibit is on display through Wednesday, July 12.
Monthly on second and third Fridays, the gallery remains open until 7 p.m. for public receptions with artists and ArtWalk celebrations respectively.
