For the first time in almost 20 years, the Maine Art Gallery in Wiscasset is collaborating with the Wiscasset Garden Club on a show that celebrates fresh flowers from a creative point of view.
Fifteen local artists known for their paintings of flowers have been invited to submit art for the show. Participating Wiscasset Garden Club members will be on hand when the paintings are delivered to the gallery. At that time, they will each “adopt” a painting and plan an arrangement of fresh flowers to be placed on a nearby pedestal for the Friday evening opening reception Friday, Aug. 18 from 4-8 p.m.
Light refreshments will be served at the show opening. The art will be for sale.
The Maine Art Gallery is located at 15 Warren Street in Wiscasset. The gallery will subsequently be open on each Saturday and Sunday from noon to 4 p.m. Aug. 19 through Sept. 17.
The Maine Art Gallery is a non-profit organization dedicated to the advancement and preservation of painting, sculpture and graphic arts through exhibitions, lectures, demonstrations, and educational programs for children and adults.
