Wiscasset NAPA offers discount for first responders
NAPA Auto Parts in Wiscasset is providing a discount to area first responders, including fire, police and EMS.
Kevin Brewer, who put together the program, is the son of two of the owners, Vern and Bridget Brewer, and has the support of the third owner, Jack Harworth. “It all started around the time we started carrying emergency flashing lights,” Kevin Brewer said. “A lot of first responders were buying them, so we decided to give them a discount for them.”
He set up an account to tap for the discounts between six and eight months ago. The discount varies based on the price of the merchandise. “A bottle of wiper fluid wouldn’t be a lot, but someone who bought a starter would get a 30 percent discount,” he said. “All the first responders have to do is show an ID if we don’t already know them. But we know a lot of them.”
Brewer said that he’s had customers from all over the area, from Boothbay Harbor to Wiscasset. He is a Wiscasset firefighter and has trained to become an emergency medical technician.
Brewer said the first responders discount program is ongoing, with no end date.
