Kim Readinger
Kim Readinger died March 24 in the comfort of her home in Wiscasset at the age of 60 after a long and fearless battle with cancer.
Kim was born in Fort Wayne, Indiana, the daughter of Mary Louise Rose and Perry Ditzenberger (deceased).
Kim attended Northrop High School, and studied abroad in France at a young age, inspiring a lifelong love of France and the French. Kim graduated from Northrop in 1975. Kim lived and worked in Charleston, South Carolina, before finally settling in Boothbay Harbor, Maine, in 1982, where she raised her two children Mary and Jacob with great love.
Kim loved the coast of Maine and the fast friends that she made here, and to the end of her life considered Maine her true home.
Kim was a passionate reader and lover of books, literature, and learning. She proudly earned her bachelor’s degree in English from the University of Maine at Augusta in 2008. Kim was never without a pile of books on her bedside table or a book or two in her purse, and she was always eager to share a newly discovered poem or passage with those around her.
Kim’s beautiful smile and compassionate view of the world will be treasured by those she has left behind; her mother Mary Louise Rose, her brother Rick Ditzenberger, her children Jacob
Readinger and Mary Readinger, her aunts, cousins, nieces and beloved friends and coworkers.
A memorial will be held in the fall, Kim’s favorite time of year.
Many grateful thanks to Kim’s family and friends for their generous and big-hearted support throughout her illness, which meant so much to Kim and to her family.
