Here’s a history of the Haggett building, in pictures.

One of the earliest pictures of Haggett’s Garage taken sometime in the 1930s before it became a car dealership for Ford Motor Co. An addition was later added for a showroom.

After the Ford dealership was sold in the 1980s, its new owner moved the business to its present location on Route 1 renaming it Wiscasset Ford. The Haggett building was then sold to a group of investors as part of a planned development known as Port Wiscasset. PHIL DI VECE photo

In the fall of 1986 renovations began by the investors to remodel the former car dealership and garage building into an art gallery. PHIL DI VECE photo

After briefly serving as home to an art gallery, the building was purchased and occupied by CEI which later moved to Brunswick. File photo

The building’s final tenant was Midcoast Conservancy. It left after the state bought the property as part of its Wiscasset downtown improvement project. File photo
