Aaron Parker workshop: ‘Planting an Edible Back Yard’
Did you know that the young shoots of hosta lilies can be prepared and eaten like asparagus?
Join Aaron Parker for a discussion on how you can turn your own property into an edible oasis. The workshop will take place on Saturday, Feb. 17, 2-4:30 p.m. at The Morris Farm. This class will introduce you to a variety of edible perennial plants suited to Maine’s climate, where to obtain them, tips and techniques for planting and maintaining them, and ideas about how to use them in the kitchen.
Parker operates Edgewood Nursery in Falmouth. It specializes in unusual edible plants. He has given talks and classes throughout Maine on edible landscaping, seed saving, perennial vegetables, and low- maintenance, low-input gardening.
Suggested donation: $15 per person. To register, visit www.morrisfarm.org/programming/edible-backyard, or call 207-882-4080.
