Advanced screening: ‘Reversing Alzheimer’s’ Oct. 16
“Memories for Life: Reversing Alzheimer’s,” narrated by Grammy winner Michael Bublé, follows patients using health data and a holistic approach to turn back the clock and retain their memories. A special advanced screening is being hosted by the Boothbay Region Health Center’s Brain Health Research Program on Monday, Oct. 16 from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. at the Harbor Theater in Boothbay Harbor. Admission is free with a suggested donation of $20 per person. There will be “brain-healthy” refreshments served before the film and a Q&A with Dr. Allan “Chip” Teel after the film.
For patients suffering from Alzheimer’s disease, no memories are safe — from the recollections of daily responsibilities to our most cherished moments.
“Memories for Life” follows sixAlzheimer’s patients who are refusing to accept their prognosis, and are turning to a new method, spearheaded by top neurologist Dr. Dale Bredesen. Instead of treating symptoms, this approach studies the health data of each patient to find the root cause of their illness.
Dr. Bredesen, best-selling author of “The End of Alzheimer’s,” faces constant skepticism from the mainstream medical community, even though many patients following the protocol show signs of reversing their cognitive decline.
“Memories for Lift” shows the eye-opening results of this life-changing treatment and questions why something with the potential to reverse such a devastating disease is not being embraced by medical researchers.
About the Boothbay Region Health Center’s Brain Health Research Program: Over 50 patients in the Boothbay area are participating in a modified (less expensive and more expansive) version of the program described in this documentary under the stewardship of Dr. Teel. Dr. Teel will describe the treatment and prevention options available through the program. This program is now in its fifth year. Meet many of the Research Study participants and learn how they’re keeping Alzheimer’s, Cognitive Decline and Dementia at bay. There is room for more people to join the study. Dr. Teel and study participants will answer questions about this program after the movie.
Cunningham Farms is the lead sponsor for the advanced screening of the movie “Memories For Life” in memory of Chuck's Grandmother, Eva Cunningham, who passed away suffering from Alzheimer's disease. It is their hope that someday a cure can be found, and that families and their loved ones will no longer have to deal with the devastating effects of this terrible disease.
