After school adventures at the Merry Barn
Registration is now open for three after school adventures at the Merry Barn set to begin in January.
We’re thrilled to welcome back Teralyn Reiter, founder of Storytree Theatre, with two different offerings. Liz Giles-Brown, founder of Learning on the Move, and a longtime friend of the Merry Barn is offering Percussion Juggling.
Ready, Set, PLAY! is geared to young actors in grades 1-4. Designed for the imaginative and curious child in your life, this class teaches the fundamentals of theatre while students collaborate to write, design, and ultimately perform their very own play! Each session is unique to the students who participate, and there is always something new to learn! Throughout the class we will develop theatrical skills through engaging games and activities. The class culminates with the World Premiere for invited family and friends on the final day of the session.
Ready, Set, PLAY! meets on Tuesdays, from 3:30 to 5 p.m., from Jan. 3 to March 14.
Actors' Tools is for kids in grades 5 – 8. This class allows beginner and intermediate thespians to explore and develop the four tools of acting: Observation, Memorization, Concentration, and Imagination. Using scene work and improvisation, students learn how physical and vocal choices develop characters and create dynamic performances. The class culminates with an original performance. Actors’ Tools meets Thursdays, from 3:30 to 5 p.m., from Jan. 5 to March 16.
Learn Percussion Juggling this winter! Juggling is creating coordinated patterns of tossing and catching. Add a little “shake” to a juggling ball, and you have a unique way to combine rhythm and movement. Participants will learn traditional one, two, and three-ball rhythmic patterns, and invent some of their own. No previous juggling experience is necessary! The session will end with a performance for friends and family. Mondays, from 3:30 to 5 p.m., from Jan. 9 to March 27.
