'Art Harvest 10' at The Stable Gallery
The Stable Gallery in Damariscotta will honor its 10 years in operation with the art show opening, “Art Harvest 10,” from 4-7 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 18.
The gallery’s anniversary celebration will feature nine artists using a full range of media. The creations of another 30 artists will also be on display.
Two featured artists work with wood to create elegant, functional results. Stephen Vowles searches for the perfect lines, design and function when he crafts his table lamps and exquisite bowls. Denise Rankin honors the Shaker traditional tenets of simplicity, harmony, and purpose in making Shaker bowls of all sizes and shapes.
Four painters will join together to present their works around the Stable Gallery’s walls. Polly Smith uses watercolors to paint colorful landscapes and still lives that are semi-representational with choices of composition and colors made to delight the viewers’ eye.
Penelope Moodey works in acrylic and latex to create free expressions of natural energy using sponges, squirt bottles and pallet knives. Daisy Greene creates paintings based on natural scenes that are a journey to explore space, movement, light and mystery. Jennifer Litchfield, the fourth painter, paints landscapes and still lives that she describes as a “bold and colorful mix of realism and impressionism” in acrylic or oil.
Bill Bellows and Janet Percival work with wool for their creations. Bill uses a loom to craft large, durable woolen rugs with simple geometric designs which delight the eye. Janet Percival knits one of a kind hats and mittens with animal references that people of all ages find fun to wear.
Come join artists, friends of artists, art collectors and those who appreciate art at this reception held at the gallery. If you can’t make the reception, the show runs through Oct. 17.
