‘Art & Healing’ event in Alna Aug. 30
“Art & Healing” will be held at Puddle Dock School on Friday, Aug. 30 from 12:30 to 2 p.m.
This is a community lunch and pop-up art exhibition featuring works by artists who find healing in the art-making process, and conversation on the therapeutic values of creativity of all kinds.
There will be art by Peter Bruun, Gordon Falt, Karen Hight, Mat O’Donnell, Keith Plummer, JBONE and Lauren Woodcock, artists who find healing around substance use, trauma and loss by making art. Along with the exhibition, enjoy music from Jenny Jordan and Mat O’Donnell, resource information, and a light lunch.
Opening with remarks from State Sen. Cameron Reny, followed by Gray Baldwin, a music therapist based in Damariscotta with 30 years’ experience, and a gallery conversation with the artists on the therapeutic value of making art and music. The event closes with a candle lighting ceremony to honor loved ones and others affected by substance use and related matters.
