Book proceeds to help animal hospital
Lawrence H. “Larry” Pitcher loved his cat, Whitey. He loved it so much he wrote a simple 20-page book about his life and times with Whitey after the cat died in August 2015.
Illustrated by Bob Bryson, “My Life and Times with Whitey” is now on sale at Sherman’s Bookstore for $20 and Pitcher is donating all of the proceeds to the Boothbay Animal Hospital.
Pitcher, a lifelong resident of Boothbay Harbor, got Whitey (who had a black coat) as a kitten and had him for nearly 20 years.
Dr. Dean Domeyer, owner of the Boothbay Animal Hospital, wrote the forward for the book. He wrote in part, “I have met many wonderful animals and many dedicated, devoted owners. Larry Pitcher and his beloved black cat Whitey set the bar high with their mutual devotion to each other. Whitey was always there for Larry and Larry was always there for Whitey.”
This is Pitcher’s first book and he dedicated it to his late mother, “who taught me how to love.”
