Boothbay Railway Village Museum kicks off a series of 60th season events this weekend
The Boothbay Railway Village Museum celebrates its 60th season with a series of community events, beginning this Sunday, Aug. 11 with Children’s Day.
Sunday, Aug. 11, 10 a.m-4 p.m.: Children’s Day is an annual local favorite offering a full day of festivities and fun for the whole family. This year will feature a few extra surprises to celebrate the museum’s birthday. Midcoast Childcare, BRYMCA Childcare, and Pollination Station will also be joining in the festivities and Shannon’s Unshelled Food truck will be offering delicious dining options for purchase. Children are encouraged to bring their swimsuits and towels. Regular museum admission provides access to all festivities (food truck items sold separately).
Sunday, Aug. 18, 10 a.m.-5 p.m.: The second annual Founder’s Day will honor museum founder, George McEvoy. To commemorate George’s vision of preserving history and his lifelong service to the Boothbay region, museum admission will be free of charge to residents of peninsula town’s Edgecomb, Boothbay, Boothbay Harbor, East Boothbay, Barters Island, and Southport.
Saturday, Sept. 14, 6-9 p.m.: 60th Birthday Celebration and Fundraiser For 60 years the museum has been the gateway to our region. We invite you to join us as we celebrate this milestone event for our community. The evening will begin in the Antique Auto Museum with live music, hors d’oeuvres and cocktails. Later guests will venture down to the Village Green to enjoy 5 stations of signature bites and handcrafted cocktails catered by Boothbay Harbor Restaurant Group, and dancing under the stars to The School Street Band! Plus a one of a kind silent auction and 60 years of memories! Tickets are $75 pp and proceeds benefit the proposed new archival and antique auto expansion building. Saturday, Sept. 28 and Sunday, Sept. 29, 10 a.m.-5 p.m.: First Responders Weekend: The museum will honor First Responders and their immediate families on this special weekend by offering them free admission for their selfless service.
Saturday, Oct. 5, 10 a.m.-4 p.m. Family Harvest Day: A family-favorite, fall tradition featuring classic New England festivities such as hayrides, pumpkin decorating, games on the village green, a trip to the pumpkin patch, and of course, train rides. The community-inspired event will offer reduced museum admission for the entire day.
Saturday, Oct. 12, 10 a.m.-5 p.m. and Sunday Oct. 13, 10 a.m.-4 p.m.: The 56th annual Fall Foliage Festival: A long-standing tradition in the mid-coast region featuring artisans, makers, and vintage goods, fantastic live music, and delicious Fall foods. The authentic New England setting spans across a 4- acre village green, surrounded by historic Maine buildings that are open for exploring. Attendees can also enjoy the impressive antique auto museum, model railroad, resident goats and a multi-dealer antique shop. A true vintage experience. The Fall Foliage Festival is a local partnership between the Boothbay Railway Village museum and the Boothbay Region Information Center and proceeds benefit both organizations. Saturday, Oct. 26, 10 a.m.-4 p.m. Railway SPOOKtacular: Trick or Treat tables, carnival games, train rides and more!
Saturday and Sundays Nov. 30-Dec. 18: North Pole Express: This popular sell out event offers families a train ride to the North Pole to visit Santa, with lots of holiday cheer along the way. Tickets for this event are available online beginning Nov. 1.
