Buy an inscribed patio brick for Wiscasset library
The board of trustees of the Wiscasset Public Library has financed the building of a small 10-foot by 10-foot patio outside the Used Book Room at the library, to be used as a pleasant place to sit and read or chat with friends in the warmer months, but also to serve as a fundraiser for the library — "Steps to the Roof."
This is how the fundraiser works: The blank bricks in the patio will be replaced with engraved bricks purchased by donors and then inscribed with names of loved ones, favorite sayings, or even a child's hand print or drawing.
Each brick is sold for more than it costs, which is how the library raises the funds. The funds will initially be used to help pay for a major re-roofing of the building.
So at this holiday season, please consider an inscribed brick as a gift to a loved one, or to remember someone who has passed on.
Inscribed 4-inch by 8-inch bricks cost $50 each; inscribed 8-inch by 8-inch bricks cost $100 each; and bricks with art work on them cost $200 each.
To order a brick, and to see a replica of one, come to the library at 21 High Street in Wiscasset with your payment and fill out a form with your desired inscription. Then, come spring, your inscribed brick will be a forever memento in the patio..
