With an international reputation as one of the most popular brass ensembles today, Canadian Brass has truly earned the distinction of “the world’s most famous brass group.” On Friday, July 12, the quintet arrives in Maine for one memorable summer performance at the historic Opera House in Boothbay Harbor. Advance tickets are $30 and currently on sale directly from the box office at 86 Townsend Ave.

Masters of concert presentations, Canadian Brass has developed a uniquely engaging stage presence and rapport with audiences. Their concerts include a range from trademark Baroque and Dixieland tunes to new compositions and arrangements created especially for them – from formal classical presentation to music served up with lively dialogue and theatrical effects. The hallmark of any Canadian Brass performance is entertainment, spontaneity, virtuosity and, most of all, fun – but never at the expense of the music. Members include Joe Burgstaller and Mikio Sasaki on trumpets, Jeff Nelson on horn, Achilles Liarmakopoulos on trombone and founding member Chuck Daellenbach on tuba.

Over the decades the group has recorded over 130 albums and has kept an extensive world-wide touring schedule. They have become the torchbearers in bringing brass music to mass audiences everywhere. They have sold over 2 million albums worldwide and continue to score Billboard chart positions. Touring legends with an enthusiastic fan base, the Canadian Brass play to packed houses everywhere throughout the USA, Canada, Japan and Europe.

Millions of television viewers have watched Canadian Brass on The Tonight Show, Today, and Entertainment Tonight and recently they were seen by more than half a billion viewers for Chinese New Year on China’s most popular station. They have appeared as guest artists on Evening at Pops with John Williams and the Boston Pops, Beverly Sills’ Music Around the World, numerous PBS specials, including a celebrated appearance on Sesame Street, and are frequent guests of many major symphony orchestras.

July 12 marks their only Maine appearance this summer. This is a show for all ages with advance discounted tickets at $30, only from the box office at 207-633-5159 and online tickets, $40, at boothbayoperahouse.com. Doors for seating open at 7 p.m. and the golden horns take to the stage at 7:30.
