Candidate for District 47
Dear Editor:
Retired after 34 years on the Space Shuttle Program where I was a member of the "Go for Launch". My wife and I moved to Maine and reside in Wiscasset. It was a privilege to serve in the 131st Legislature representing the people in District 47. Thank You for the experience, the education and your support.
As a closing statement at the LCN Forum, a poem I created, expressed my feelings, much more than I could in two minutes.
This old man
Will do all that he can
For Maine's "Way of Life" we came
It is no longer quite the same
Two years ago
I knew not then what I now know
The obligation is my choice
To listen to the peoples' voice
In Committee the work is done
Although my comments seldom won
With problems and their causes found
True solutions and consequences will be sound
My fears I had to face
When I first spoke in that hallowed place
"Madame Speaker" I spoke
Each time representing my district folk
I cast my vote as I saw fit
For my constituents I will not quit
Our beliefs they wish to take
There is so very much at stake
Our flag depicts the "Way of Life" you know
To change our flag we must vote No
These past two years I am thankful for
Your support is asked to do two more
Rest assured this old man
Will do all that he can
We successfully resolved problems such as a property tax exemption between Maine Yankee and the Town of Wiscasset avoiding a 15% tax increase, as well as, providing a long sought resolution for retired teachers and state employees who were forced to retire early.
Serving in Maine's 131st Legislature as the Representative for District 47, which includes the towns of Alna, Jefferson, Whitefield and Wiscasset, was an incredible adventure. I am seeking to continue that adventure and make use of the experience gained, in a second term.
