Carrillo annulment case continued
The annulment hearing for Sharon Carrillo, 33, and Julio Carrillo, 51, on Jan. 3 in Wiscasset was continued, according to Sharon Carrillo’s attorney, Christopher MacLean of Camden. The Carrillos are charged with the depraved indifference murder of Sharon Carrillo’s 10-year-old daughter, Marissa Kennedy, in Stockton Springs on Feb. 25, 2018.
MacLean said Sharon Carrillo sought the annulment because she believed her husband was married to someone else at the time of their marriage. “Perhaps there was more than one prior marriage,” MacLean said. He said the continuance was unusual because he believed both parties and their attorneys consented to the annulment prior to the court date.
But Julio Carrillo did not appear. MacLean said Julio Carrillo's attorney said he was unwilling to go forward without his client’s permission.
“I think it’s pretty clear what the facts are,” MacLean said. “We have asked for documentation from Julio, including marriage licenses and divorce decrees, if any, from several states. Julio Carrillo has failed to provide the information. All Sharon Carrillo wants is her maiden name back.”
A telephone hearing is anticipated to resolve the matter. No date has been set, MacLean said.
