Celebrate Oktoberfest on Wiscasset Common
Oktoberfest is an annual 16-day festival held in Munich, Germany since 1810 where over six million people gather to celebrate. On Saturday, October 4, the First Congregational Church of Wiscasset will hold a much smaller version on the common from 10 to 2. Proceeds of the fair go to the support of the church.
Church members will be grilling bratwurst and serving German sauerkraut as well as hot dogs, chips and drinks for lunch. Delicious homemade baked goods will be available, and the church cookbook will be on sale at a special Oktoberfest price of $10.
There will be pumpkin decorating for the kids, and apples as well as pumpkins will be for sale along with jumbles and the Organ Society’s hand knit mittens, scarves, hats and other crafts. Come and enjoy a taste of fall. In the event of rain, Oktoberfest will be held in the fellowship hall at the church.
