Christopher D. Gistis
Christopher D. Gistis, 61, of Saco, passed away unexpectedly at home on May 29, 2024.
He was born in Westbrook on July 22, 1962, a son of Demosthenes and Jan Gistis. He graduated from Westbrook High School. Chris served in the United States Army Reserves.
Chris found his career early in life while working at Valley’s Steakhouse. But being a man of many talents he also worked in the construction industry and was a game warden for a short period of time. Chris always went back to what he loved, cooking. He either worked in a restaurant or owned a restaurant throughout the years. In 2000, Chris owned and operated the 1820 House in East Boothbay. In 2006, he had Mr. C’s Fishbarn and in 2007 had Mr. C’s Food and Spirits in Boothbay until 2016. His daughter Echo remembers working with her dad in various positions at all of his many restaurant ventures. This dad and daughter bond got even stronger. He also owned and operated Mr. Caterer, his catering business for many years. He retired in 2016 due to declining health. Chris enjoyed the food industry and cherished the relationships he made with his co-workers and the families that he served.
Most of all, Chris loved his family, their family gatherings and the time they spent together. He will be sadly missed by many.
He was predeceased by one brother Jack Ross and one sister May Carter.
He is survived by his daughter Echo Hardwick and husband Jason, two grandchildren Aubrey and Wyatt and one brother Jeff Ross, nieces and nephews.
