Cozy up to a shovel: More snow on way February 15
This Valentine's Day, the best gift might be galoshes and a shovel instead of chocolates and roses.
Another winter storm has started making its way up the coast and could bring several inches of snow Saturday, and Saturday evening.
This comes as the region continues to dig and dry itself out from under a storm that passed through the region Thursday and Friday.
Meteorologist Eric Schwibs said the models were too early to tell if the Midcoast would bear the brunt of the next storm, but Downeast Maine can expect several inches.
“Boothbay looks like it's right on the cusp,” he said. “A lot depends on the model (of where the storm will go) but I would expect several more inches of snow.”
If it makes landfall in the Midcoast, it would be Saturday afternoon and into Saturday night. Either way, expect more gusts of wind.
The storm is different than the one that dumped several inches of snow and rain across the region Thursday and Friday.
“It's an entirely different system,” Schwibs said. “It's just following right on the heels of the last storm, which isn't that uncommon.”
Despite the snow, sleet and rain, there haven't been too many outages, according to Central Maine Power.
At noon, there were only 632 customers without power, and none in Lincoln County. The southern areas of the state, York, Cumberland and Sagadahoc Counties, all had outages.
