Crayons at Story Time
Poor Duncan just wanted to color, but his crayons weren’t happy. They were overworked and unwrapped and finally wrote him letters to voice their concerns. “The Day The Crayons Quit” by Drew Daywalt and cleverly illustrated by Oliver Jeffers was enjoyed by all at last week’s Story Time at the Wiscasset Public Library’s Children’s Room.
Black Crayon was tired of only being used for outlining, White Crayon was disappointed in Duncan’s constant choice of white paper where she couldn’t be seen. Even Beige Crayon had hoped to be used for something other than wheat and turkey dinners. So when Duncan colored his school assignment just the way the crayons had asked, everyone was happy again.
After the story, the children had fun deciding what pictures to color with each color crayon on a special worksheet. Story Time takes place each Wednesday at 10:30 a.m. and all are welcome.
