David E. Ridgway
David Emerson Ridgway, 70 of Woolwich, Maine passed away on Feb. 3, 2023 with his family close by. Per David’s wishes, the family has chosen to have a private service.
David was born on Nov. 2, 1952. He was raised in Southampton, New York by his parents Marjorie and Emerson Ridgway. He attended Southampton High School, graduating in 1970. He went on to attend Millsaps College, a liberal arts school in Jackson, Mississippi.
As a young adult, David tried several avenues of employment, including working at Herrick’s Hardware which led to his interest in locksmithing and ultimately, a successful partnership with Doug Dunkirk of East End Locksmiths. He retired to Woolwich, Maine in 2016 where he enjoyed frequenting the Patten Free Library, listening to his favorite music, traveling with his wife and visiting his oldest son’s family on Chebeague Island, Maine.
He is survived by his wife, Laurie of Woolwich, Maine; his sons, Matthew of Chebeague Island, Jamie of Arvada, Colorado, and Andrew of Woolwich, Maine, as well as Matthew’s wife, Carrie, and two children, Hannah and Morgan, and Jamie’s wife Emily; sisters Mary-Alice Halsey of Southampton, New York, Dorothea Ettman of Fayette, New York, his mother Marjorie Ridgway of Southampton, New York; and several nieces and nephews.
He was proceeded in death by his father, Emerson Dale Ridgway.
