The 51st annual North Nobleboro Day will be held on Saturday, Aug. 12 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the North Nobleboro Community Hall, 554 Upper East Pond Road. Along with a delicious chicken barbeque, giant silent auction, raffles and homemade crafts, the North Nobleboro Community Association (NNCA) is proud to present the return of Debbie Myers and her band Redneck Rodeo from 10 a.m. to 12:45 p.m.

 

Born and raised in the Canadian country music scene, Debbie has been singing professionally since the age of eight and started her career by her father's Gerry Myers’ side. By the late ‘80s she had three top 12 hit singles in Canada, with one hit climbing all the way to number one on French radio.  In addition to recording an album in Nashville with songs written by herself, her sister Shirley, and Rod Nicholson, Debbie has also performed on Maritime television, radio and in shows with Mickey Gilley, Steve Wariner, Highway 101, and Little Jimmy Dickens. Debbie is a two time winner at the Maine Academy of Country Music Awards as "Best Female Vocalist" and "Entertainer of the Year" and has been inducted into Maine's Country Music Hall of Fame 2015.

 

Debbie's performing style has been likened to Reba McEntire, Whitney Houston, and Patsy Cline, yet she remains firmly rooted in her Maritime musical heritage.  In a career that has spanned more than 30 years, her talent has brought her three top-10 hit singles. Currently she performs with her group “Redneck Rodeo,” which has become an anticipated feature event at many fairs in New England. The gifted members of her band are also strongly rooted in coastal Maine but have national recognition and awards in their resumés.  We are lucky to welcome them back and thank our local donors for making her return possible.

 

Following Debbie’s performance, Playin’ Possum will take the stage from 1 to 4 p.m. Rooted in the bluegrass tradition, the family trio from Thomaston features David and Gigi Hynd and their son Peter, playing guitar and upright bass, performing a variety of music ranging from Alison Kraus to The Eagles.

 

Don't miss what will surely be an outstanding show.  Be sure to come early and stay late for great food, the silent auction, trash and treasures, and locally made crafts. North Nobleboro Day will take place, rain or shine, at the Community Grounds at the intersection of East Pond Road and the Upper East Pond Road, approximately three miles from Route 1 in Nobleboro, or three miles from Route 32 in Jefferson.
