Diabetes support group to discuss the health benefits of volunteering
LincolnHealth Director of Volunteer Services Connie Bright will discuss the many health benefits of volunteering at the Diabetes Support Group meeting on Thursday, Jan. 26 at 1:15. The group will meet in the Diabetes Education Room on the third floor of the LincolnHealth - Miles campus in Damariscotta.
Volunteers are able to make a difference in their communities every day. Volunteering is a great way to stay physically and mentally active, connect with the community, and has been shown to decrease the risk of depression.
Bright will explain the health benefits and volunteer opportunities at LincolnHealth. She has served as Director of Volunteer Services for more than 29 years. Currently, more than 200 volunteers put their talents and skills to work throughout LincolnHealth in areas including patient care, office support, and community relations.
The LincolnHealth Diabetes Support Group meets every other month on the fourth Thursday to allow participants to share experiences and know that they do not have to deal with diabetes alone.
The LincolnHealth Diabetes and Nutrition Program provides a range of services to diabetes patients and their families. The program has been accredited by the American Association of Diabetes Educators for the provision of quality services.
