Dow Furniture proudly participated in the 13th annual Miles for Mills Memorial Day Weekend Race in Brunswick on Sunday, May 26, with its Dow Furniture Run Team of 10 participants. The company donated a total of $2,000, stemming from a portion of sales from its Memorial Day promotion. This event continues to honor and support re-calibrated veterans and their families, making a significant impact on their lives. 

The event saw over 1,600 participants join in the 5K and newly introduced 10K races, demonstrating incredible community support and breaking previous records. Last year, the event raised over $150,000, and the foundation hopes to match or exceed this amount once all the fundraising is tallied for this year. 

"Just having people come out and support us is really what drives us to know that, you know, we're doing a good thing here. The mission's going forward," said Travis Mills, the organization's founder, as reported by Newscenter Maine. 

The Travis Mills Foundation supports post-9/11 re-calibrated veterans and their families. Founded by Travis Mills, who was injured in 2012 during his third tour in Afghanistan, the foundation offers programs to help veterans overcome physical and emotional challenges. Mills lost portions of both arms and both legs to an IED, and his personal recovery journey inspired the foundation's mission. 

"At the end of the day, I realize what support meant to me and what got me back to my new normal. Back on my prosthetic feet and going forward," Mills explained. "We give these families a chance to understand that no matter what happens in life, we can push forward, that you got to find your new normal, and that we are here to help them re-calibrate and show them that there is a path forward," said Mills in an interview with Newscenter Maine. 

The foundation's retreat in the Belgrade Lakes Region provides a sanctuary for veterans and their families, offering a variety of supportive programs. The foundation's efforts have changed many lives for the better.
