DRA offers ‘Seaweeds for Life’ class
Damariscotta River Association invites the public to join Sarah Redmond, Maine Sea Grant Marine Extension Agent, and Hillary Krapf, seaweed enthusiast and health educator, for “Seaweeds for Life.” This class will offer an introduction to the biology, diversity, sustainable harvest regulations and ecology of Maine seaweeds. Participants will learn how to handle, identify, and prepare several different species of Maine seaweeds, incorporating them into a variety of culinary and beauty applications. Recipes to take home will be provided to participants.
The “Seaweeds for Life” workshop will be held Saturday, May 17 from 1 to 4 p.m. This class will take place entirely indoors. Space is limited. DRA is offering this program to participants ages 15 and up. The fee is $30 for non-members and $25 for DRA members.

The Damariscotta River Association is a nonprofit membership supported organization dedicated to preserving and promoting the natural, cultural and historical heritage of the Damariscotta River, its watershed, and adjacent areas for the benefit of all.
