Driver not injured in July 5 Boothbay single-vehicle accident
A South Bristol man apparently “fell asleep at the wheel” July 5 in a single-vehicle accident at the Hardwick and Wiscasset road intersection in Boothbay. According to Lincoln County Sheriff’s Department, Daniel MacCready, 33, was driving his 2016 Subaru Forrester northward around 3 p.m. when he crossed the center line and hit a utility pole. MacCready was wearing a seat belt and his airbags deployed. “The Boothbay Region Ambulance Service arrived at the scene and the driver didn’t sustain any apparent injuries,” Lt. Brendan Kane said.
Local traffic was detoured for nearly four hours as Central Maine Power repaired the utility poles and emergency responders cleared debris. Central Maine Power reported the crash caused nearly 1,500 customers to lose power.
Lt. Kane reported no charges are pending. “The accident report no longer provides whether the vehicle was totaled, but there was significant damage,” he said.
