Dump truck crashes in Edgecomb
A dump truck hauling an excavator went off Route 1 in Edgecomb Wednesday morning, Jan. 30, and crashed into an embankment, injuring driver William H. Bailey of Sabattus. Bailey, 63, was transported to Miles Memorial Hospital after he complained of back and rib pain; however, he didn't appear seriously injured, according to Aaron Beck of Lincoln County Sheriff's Office. Bailey was treated and released.
Edgecomb Fire Chief Roy Potter said he believes Bailey may have blacked out, causing him to lose control of the 2001 Mack truck while driving southbound on Route 1.
Bailey works for Glen Dube Excavation. He was towing a trailer carrying a Volvo excavator.
Edgecomb Fire Department received a call at 9:53 a.m., and responded to the scene, along with Wiscasset Ambulance Service and Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office. “By the time we get (the scene) cleaned up it'll be awhile,” Potter said.
Beck was the investigating officer, according to Lincoln County Sheriff's Office.
