Elizabeth S. Palmer art show at Miles Memorial Hospital
Elizabeth S. Palmer will exhibit her watercolor paintings at Miles Memorial Hospital in Damariscotta from June 13-July 24.
"Mainly Maine" features subject matter from the state of Maine, which has been dear to her heart since graduating from Colby College in the '60s.
For the last 35 years, the artist has spent much of her time in the home she built in Nobleboro, where she currently lives, painting and gardening and immersing herself in local Maine life.
She works primarily in watercolors, expressing her love of color and light. Palmer seeks to make her paintings vibrate and dance, with the goal of elevating ordinary subject matter into the realm of the extraordinary, leading viewers to discover the hidden splendor in both the natural world, and in man-made objects.
Palmer believes that when we see our world as filled with beauty, our lives can be transformed. She hopes to inspire people to look at their surroundings differently and reverently. Although her work is primarily "representational," her unique manipulation of color and the medium in general, captures her emotional response in a somewhat impressionistic way.
She is an active member of River Arts in Damariscotta and the Boothbay Region Art Foundation (BRAF), where she regularly enters juried shows. In 2013 and 2014 she had two paintings accepted into the "Best in ME" show at BRAF. Palmer won an Honorable Mention in 2013 and was accosted by Polly Steadman because of her incredible talent.
Palmer has exhibited at the Damariscotta River Grill and the Pemaquid Watershed Association.
In late October she will have a two-month solo show at Savory Maine in Damariscotta.
