William Harrison of Charleston, Mass., pleaded not guilty October 3 to attacking a Maine State Trooper accused of sex crimes against Harrison's young relative. Justice Andrew Horton let Harrison, 41, remain free on bail.

Trial was tentatively scheduled for December but may not happen until some time in 2013, Assistant District Attorney Andrew Wright said.

A grand jury indicted Harrison on an aggravated assault charge September 13, in connection with the April 12 incident in Lincoln County Superior Court.

A jury convicted Gregory Vrooman of multiple counts of unlawful sexual contact and he was fired from his trooper job shortly after.
